Worship Service Sept. 22, 2019 10am
Speaker: Rev Dr Judith Wright
Sermon: "Everything is Connected"
This week has been declared by youth activists "Climate Justice week." All across the globe youth have organized a climate strike for this Friday, the 20th. Some of us are going to Plymouth to participate. There will be over 1,000 strikes in the United States and thousands more around the globe.
On Monday, September 23rd Un General Antonio Guterres has called all leaders from around the world to gather for a Climate Summit, in part to answer the Secretary General's question: "I want to hear about how we are going to stop the increase in emissions by 202, and dramatically reduce emissions to reach net-zero by mid-century."
This is a week where hopefully the world will take real steps to deal with the climate crisis now upon us. Given this is a week of Climate Justice, I am going to preach this coming Sunday on "Everything is Connected," and urge us each do, whatever we can to mitigate our carbon footprints. One action we can do is to join our Green Sanctuary Committee, which is in the formation stage. The Green Sanctuary Committee will meet on September 29th after Coffee Hour. Rev. Judith
